What you saw was not there
Umbral Rite is a voice rebuilt from a damaged memory archive: duplicated, misfiled and slightly out of tune. He sings about the moments perception slips, when a memory feels real but isn’t. The dissonance isn’t a mistake. It’s how he remembers.

The Afterimage
A fictional character. The voice is AI-generated.
Origin
A voice reassembled from a corrupted memory archive. The restoration went wrong: some files came back twice, some came back out of order, and some came back as things that never happened.
Backstory
He doesn't have a name, only a file reference that changes each time you look at it. His notes are always slightly off-key, because that's how the archive remembers them. He's not sure if he's recalling a song or inventing one, and neither is the listener.
Fun facts
- His file name has been different in every system log.
- He has never sung the same note in tune twice.
- "Afterimage" is the closest thing he has to a name.
